Men: It's that time of year again. The long-anticipated 6th annual Memorial Weekend Redneck Extravaganza is just around the corner! We have a lot of work to do to get ready: we need food, fuel, camping supplies, 4-wheel drives, ATV's, dirt bikes, baja's, mountain bikes, kayaks, and anything else you can afford to destroy or consume. If you have none of these, your contribution to the building biggest fire east of the Mississippi is required!
The plan: 1.) We flood the empty Silver Lake Basin with junk and idiots late Friday night, 2.) create mayhem all weekend, 3.) clean up after ourselves like responsible individuals, 4.) and head back on Monday or Tuesday afternoon.
Respond to this invitation with the following information:
A.) Your starting/ending location & departure dates/times
B.) Your available transportation vehicle to/from U.P. with number of seats available (passenger cars can make it if it isn't muddy).
C.) Your Offroad tool(s) & condition
D.) Explain if you have a trailer and/or need a trailer for transporting said offroad tools
E.) If you are bringing a tent and the number of people it sleeps
Consider this list as available inventory. We can decide carpooling, tent-sharing, tow vehicles, etc. when the time comes.
Things everyone needs to bring:
1.) Bring bedding. You will want a good sleeping bag and possibly a pillow. It will be cold at night.
2.) Since it's cold at night, and possibly cold during the day, bring warm clothes. At least a jacket or coat. Long pants, gloves, hats, etc. recommended.
3.) Bug spray is recommended.
4.) Dry/clean clothes might be a good idea. Mud can be found all over the place. Also, some people stink after 4 days in the same clothes.
5.) There are still no toilets. Bring toilet paper. We have a toilet seat on a bucket with no bottom.
6.) Everyone is responsible for their own food. Hopefully someone can bring a grill, otherwise grab a few pots, pans, supplies for cooking over a camp fire, and LOTS of food. The only stores are an hour away, so it is much better to bring everything in the beginning. You are responsible for your own coolers, if required.
7.) Drinking water, water for cooking, cleaning, washing wounds, etc. This stuff can go very fast!
8.) Anything else you want to have up there
Disclaimer 1: Our purpose is to build worthwhile friendships and prove our masculine dominance over nature and machine. Personal responsibility and common sense with off-road equipment, fire, guns, alcohol, other people's property, etc. is absolutely required. We aim to behave respectfully at all times, and much fun will be had by all.
Disclaimer 2: The picture is not from 2009. The wood pile from 2009 is soon to come, and it is our desire to make it bigger and "safer".
